Ace Hood Trials and Tribulations Review
Attention everybody YMCMB and We The Best recording artist Ace Hood has exceeded his boundaries and released what is possibly the best of four albums by the rapper. Ace Hood, a rapper who made it from rags to riches, from sleeping in dirt to having the number one song in America, has been fighting for a position in the rap industry for eight years and after his latest album Trials and Tribulations, he has won the battle.
Trials and Tribulations describes the hardships of Ace Hood’s life, from seeing his mom not able to pay rent, to losing one of his twin daughters due to health problems when she was a new born. Ace hood opened up more about his daughter death in “Hallucinations” which is on Ace’s mixtape “Starvation”, one of his earlier projects. In an interview with XXL Magazine he stated that “That’s my only way to actually release,” when asked why he spoke about his daughter’s death in his music. Ace Hood shows why he keeps going and pursuing a rap career and what being successful means to him and his family. The only way he knows to let his pain out is music, he doesn’t rap for the fame, he raps because that’s the only thing he knows how to do he raps because he has something to say and he wants his voice to be heard. Hood’s newest hit “We Outchea” is a statement celebrating his status at the top of the rap industry and the rest of the songs on the young artist’s album are just another example of why he’s on top. His flow he comes out with is so unique so hard and something we as listeners have never heard before. You can feel the emotion of his voice with every word banging through your headphones. Finally someone has brought emotion into the rap game. Ace shows his selflessness by noticing all the people who have helped him throughout his career.
The album features other superstar artists such as Meek Mill in “Before the Rollie”, Chris Brown in “Rider”, and Rick Ross and Future in Ace’s hit song “Bugatti”. “Bugatti” is a song that many people didn’t know actually had a meaning towards it until he said so afterwards in an interview with The Breakfast Club on Hot 97.1 in New York City. Many believed that he just rhymed about cars like every other rapper. When in reality he’s talking about how a Bugatti is a sign of wealth a sign of being unstoppable which makes since as the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is the fastest car in the world. In Bugatti Ace Hood showed his fun side of just letting loose as his flow took over and the whole country lost their mind. We The Best Creator DJ Khaled has definitely give Ace a big push in his career. Before DJ Khaled came into Ace’s life he was signed with Def Jam Records. Def Jam never really gave the artist a push as they made him release two unsuccessful albums which happened because the rapper was obviously not matured. Ace knew he had potential and knew that he had what it takes to one day be the best rapper alive and so he left Def Jam for We The Best.
Mr. Hood’s lyrics over the past few years have showed a level of maturity in the rapper. He used to be a rapper that would be fake that you couldn’t understand and relate to as he wasn’t being himself at the time he was more of a gangster rapper his flow whack and lyrics were even worse. Once he had changed and revolutionized the rap game. His flow is one of a kind and is something that many rappers have tried to copy but have not been successful. His flow shows his uniqueness and differs him from any other rapper. Many of Ace Hood’s fans don’t only see him as a rapper but also as a preacher. If you scroll down his twitter you’ll see tweets like, “Good word @ church today extremely thankful ...” and “Stay Inspired...” He gives his fans confidence telling them to believe in their selves that it doesn’t matter what they’re going through the time will come where they are stronger than their issues and to keep fighting, to do what you want to do not only for you but the ones around you who mean the most.
In “The Come Up” “The gutta, where we run up and they get done up/And mama tryna make a dollar for son and daughter/Where them times are even harder without a father/Want a job but never bother/All about them commas, bigger diamonds and high designer.” Ace Hood relied on his mother and even though his mom couldn’t come up with money, he still says that his mom is the world to him. His mother always tried her hardest to do what she can. He as a man understood that this world isn’t perfect and that some of the stuff that happens is unfair so he has to do what he can in the situation to make it better. His mom worked her hardest to give Ace everything she could. Ace’s mom always supported him throughout his rap career and always knew he would make it big. The only thing Ace wants to see is his mother being proud of him.
Personally, my favorite song on Trials and Tribulations is ”Another Statistic”. In the song he tells his story about not wanting to be the kid on the news who died from overdosing or the man who committed a crime. He grew up in an area that is known for crime. He didn’t let his environment get the best of him and decided to do everything to get away from the bad. He still loves where he is from because that is what made him a man. He saw the struggle people had to go through he went through that struggle as a kid and made sure he wouldn’t have to as a man.
I give this album a Perfect 10/10. Ace stepped away from the mainstream rap and decided not to rap about women, money, etc. but to rap about his life from when he and his mother hit rock bottom, to taking her to the top with him. Ace Hood brings so much potential to the table and I will be on the lookout for future breakouts from the rapper.

Pusha T My Name is My Name Album Review
Pusha T’s newest album My Name is My Name was released this October, and debuted at number 4 on the billboard top 100. It was one of the most anticipated albums of the year, and had much hype surrounding it because its release date was pushed back so many times. The album has very many notable tracks, and guest features on almost all of them. The album has features from Chris Brown, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Two Chainz, and more.
Tracks like Sweet Serenade, Nostalgia, and Numbers on the boards came out before the release of the album. Sweet Serenade has been the most successful single of this album so far, it has had a lot of success in the mainstream and hip hop world. The song features Chris Brown on the chorus and a driving rough bass throughout the whole song. The song talks about his journey from the bottom al l the way to the point where he is “the best rapper living.” The album’s song with the best lyricism is probably nostalgia. It features Kendrick Lamar, and the word play of the song is amazing. The way Pusha T begins the song using a metaphor, and continues to use that metaphor throughout the whole song is something that really is unique to this track. Kendrick Lamar also has a great verse on this song. Overall this song is probably my favorite song on the album. Pusha T’s lyrics and Kendrick Lamar’s verse on top of the strong guitar riff in the background really make this song great.
This album is not all great though. Kanye West’s autotune in the song hold on really was not properly executed. It is a shame because Pusha T Had a great verse in that song. Another song on the album was ruined by the features Pusha T decided to use. Who I Am featured 2 Chainz and Big Sean, two very respectable rappers, but their verses in the song were downright laughable. When 2 chains starts of his verse saying,”Entrepenuer, strip club connoisseur Hot fudge sundae, pour it on you hallelujah,” you know the verse is going to be bad, and in this case it was awful. It took away from the whole song, and once again Pusha T was not the problem in this song. Pusha T was very consistent throughout the whole entire album, next time he should just choose better features.
I give this album and 8 out of 10. Although there were some rough patches the positives of this album outweigh the negatives. Pusha T speaks with a purpose in almost all of these songs, and it is his album, and it should not be ruined by the guest artists on it.
